The National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) invites registrations for admission. These video lessons are useful to gain more knowledge in the courses being offered and for mastery in new subjects.

Session schedule for Online courses at NPTEL
Online lessons will begin next January and continue through April. Over 500 courses are available in the January-April session covering all disciplines. These are conducted over a period of 4, 8, 12 weeks depending on the course background and scope.
Approximately 4 hours of video lessons are offered each week depending on the course. Facilities are also provided to clear any type of doubts. There will be weekly assignments. Exams can also be written after completion of the course.
Eligible candidates will be awarded an Electronic Certificate. Those who want to write the test must complete the assignments. A candidate can join any number of courses and can write a maximum of 6 exams.
- Courses lasting 4, 8 weeks start in two sessions. You can choose the session you like. The first session of the 4 week course will start on January 18 and end on February 21. The second session will start on February 15 and end on March 12.
- The first session of 8-week courses will start from January 18 to March 12. The second session will start from February 15 to April 9.
- 12 week courses are available in a single session from January 18 to April 9.
- To join the first session, one has to register for the 12-week course by January 25. The deadline for the second session is February 15. For those who have joined the 4 and 8 week courses in session 1, the examinations will be held on March 21. Session 2 consists of 4, 8 week courses as well as 12 week courses for those who have exams on April 24 and 25.
What are the courses offered at NPTEL?
Take the English Language for Competitive Examinations course as an example with a duration of 12 weeks. The course start under the auspices of IIT Madras. As part of these classes, advanced grammar, ocular, reading and writing subjects required for competitive examinations are taught. There will be practice tests.
